New Tesla Door Handles

I ve gone through 2 of them already on my s and while they are cool they are not all that practical and seem prone to breaking.

The motor whirls away but the handle doesn t extend. The car sensed a problem and allowed it to be driven only 2 minutes then shut down perhaps overly precautionary. Only the driver s side handle not other handles did not present due to a faulty part door handle control module. If the door opens when the door handle presents the door handle limit or the microswitch needs adjusting tesla will charge around 500 500 500 for the part and a little under an hour to replace the door handle if you are out of warranty and as they have increased the parts required to nearer 150 unless you are a diy enthusiast the total cost of repair at a 3rd party is not going to.

Tesla s futuristic car doors are brilliant. The tesla model s uses automatically retracting door handles and those fancy handles are the subject of a new lawsuit recently filed in florida. I would be ok with the option to have the driver door self present without touching the handle. As in the car just left warranty.

At present and awaiting a visit from a tesla engineer i m accessing the car from the passenger side. The door handles presented as normal but both the fro and rear drivers doors would not permit me to open the car. The sudden failure of tesla model s self presenting door handles as a result of component failure is a common and often aggravating experience for many early owners. With the handles being retracted of an aerodynamic looking they are a daring public experiment in automotive vision but as all of you have noticed model 3 does not have the door handle auto present function like model s nor it has the soft closing function of those finest luxury cars.

Sure would be nice if model 3 did though. I have been quoted almost 300 each door to fix. The fancy door handles on the tesla model s have been known to fail and so these videos explain how they work and how to fix them if they stop working. However i claim this was a known defect in the door handles at the time the car was manufactured.

It comes after omar awan died in his model s. Please elon don t put the retractable door handles like the model s on the cybertruck. Both left hand door handles on my tesla stopped working.
